Preparing Your Home For Sale - The Garden

    Your Garden

Ensuring that your property looks fantastic indoors is so important buts its crucial to consider your garden too. During the winter the garden will, undoubtedly, start to look neglected and tired. During the spring and summer months it’s time to get your garden ready, follow these useful tips to get this important part of your home looking its best.

The lawn and hedges: If you are lucky enough to have a lawn then wait for a dry day, cut the grass and hedges, sort out any bushes to get these all looking fresh and sharp for when prospective viewers are about to visit your home.

Patios and Decking: Think about power washing patios or decking areas to make these feel fresh, no one wants to struggle walking across decking which has the feeling of an ice rink or just looks old and tired.

Pot Plants and Flower Beds: Again, be creative with this, think about adding some fresh colourful plants to your garden, remove old plants and give the garden a good tidy, then finish with a quick trip to the tip.

Make your garden vibrant and colourful. Pot plants also can be taken with you so then improving your new garden too. Bark chippings are another great way to make a flower bed look fresh.

Garages and Sheds: Think about what these add to your garden, an old shabby shed or tired looking garage will not look good to a potential buyer, so a fresh lick of varnish or paint will make the world of difference. The same applies to your garden fences, it’s an easy job and the results will be positive.
On a separate note with the garage, think about internal lighting and how well the garage door opens and shuts.

Garden Furniture: It’s time to set up the garden furniture, show potential buyers how they can use the garden, whether this is a summer barbeque with family and friends or just a little bistro table for an evening glass of wine. Make spaces feel like a place any potential buyer would also want to sit and enjoy.

The outside space is just as important as the inside when the sunny spring and summer months arrive, so make the most of spending a little time in your garden to get it sale ready. It will only benefit you when it comes to placing your property on the market.

Adding value: the small improvements that make a big difference

The unassailable attractiveness of property as a money-making asset persists. While passive appreciation still exists – that’s when homes gradually increase in value with nothing more than time – homeowners are looking at adding values in other ways.
